Q. There are very few characters and legends in the fashion area of trading. How did you know your grandmother was basically one of them?

A. Five years ago, Our took over her estate. The most important thing execute was work on the communication and are generally who she was and see when there was still relevance to her. What left that was the book "Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel" and the movie [of the same name]. Through that and a later "Diana Vreeland Memos: Currently the Vogue Years, " we a muslim there is a huge following. She is a consistent reference. I'm forwarded an article of the fact that she appears in every day out of all chatter of fashion. It's not an American happening. It's international. Also, she genuinely helped a lot of people find their pitch, and their lives. There's a huge amount of quite will toward her because of that.

Queen. Most people are lucky to be considered a huge visionary once in their professional living. She seemed to do it three times by three different places.

A. Our grandmother really did something. Everything that she achieved in Harper's Bazaar was incredible. She created very best backbone of modern visuals today. Upon Vogue, she turned a drowsy magazine into the dominant magazine it's always today. Finally, she inherited the item very curatorial, very staid, excellent traditional institution (the Costume Fondation at The Metropolitan Museum of Art) and she totally rocked it. You have Alexander Mcqueen iPhone 5 exhibitions. That would haven't been in consideration if it wasn't as for my grandmother's changing of the paradigms.

Q. Today's most well-known fashion editor tool is Vogue's Anna Wintour, as their reputation is equal parts fearsome and talented. What was your grandmother's style of management?

A. She was basically definitely difficult and demanding. We all with a point of view are. One thing installed out of those [Vogue] memos — there were no human resources meetings, or weekend retreats while they all brainstormed visions of the tabloid. She had very clear ideas — that Richard Avedon would go along to Cairo and photograph a huge hot Cleopatra. She didn't will need to hear a committee on of the fact that. At the same time, she wasn't micromanaging what really Dick was doing. She was basically just giving [artists] inspiration, leeway to define their own unique voice.

Q. Did you get to tell her up close in action?

A. Being living overseas for most of those times. I moved to New York [to work at Ralph Lauren] in 1985 and was the one member of my family here. I paid a lot of time with her at the end of her everyday living. I really used her wisdom. It turned out a very powerful moment for me.

How you can did you go from capturing your wife's in books and a documentary that would fragrances?

A. I've had 3 decades working and running luxury vendors. It seemed to me she would develop most relevance in fragrance and as well , beauty. Two years ago, I found IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances) that may me develop the scents. Installed six perfumers to work with us, and as well , developed five fragrances that are the ultimate collection. I had no idea if this works. Last November, I reached out that would friends, and they all wanted the item collection. Neimans wanted it in its stores. It ended up being in 8 and Boston is one of them.

Queen. Everything about the fragrances is exciting. Would Diana approve?

We've was successful hard to make a collection of fragrances that all the do reflect my grandmother's fearlessness and boldness.
