In the May 4 Commentary piece ("Climate movement's immoral spending"), Tom Harris compared the billions spent on polution mitigation (by this I assume definitely means energy efficiency, clean calories from fat, etc . ) and the much smaller range spent on climate adaptation (helping and the vulnerable to cope with the impacts).
The thing that is very interesting is that engineer Tom Harris's photo and list of published op-eds is featured on the Heartland Institute's website. The Heartland Institute really enjoys funding by the Charles G. Koch Foundation. Charles is one of the Koch bros who have earned billions from the FOSSIL iPhone 5 case-fuel industry and are busy protecting your status quo.
If Mr. Harris therefore concerned about the lack of funds going to polution mitigation, why doesn't he question things the Koch brothers to send the funds to Rhode Island and we can adapt our homes since infrastructure to rising sea rates and more extreme weather events?
Exclusively mitigation is going to stop our oceanic masses from further acidification and a variety of00 consequences from the carbon dioxide pollution related to ongoing Fossil iPhone case fuels. Another solution is to remain a carbon pollution fee around fossil fuels and return and the revenue to individuals and businesses and we can use the money for our own minimization and adaptation.
And, if the Unites states made good on its states to the United Nations' Green Weather Fund, we could help the vulnerable back in developing nations adapt to the converting climate our use of fossil energy sources is responsible for.
